
Supporting your child's learning
- Students in upper school need your support as much as when they were younger. Take an interest in their work and talk to them about what they are learning.
- Sign their planner or homework diary and liase with the school if you think there may be a problem about homework.
- Create an environment for learning at home where students can work without distraction a desk, light and calm background are essential.
- Encourage your child to make time for reading it is one of the most important ingredients in a childs overall success. Ask the school for recommendations of books, look on the schools website or just take your child into a local bookshop and do some browsing.
- Avoid placing a television in the bedroom. We believe the bedroom should be an escape from distractions.
- Attend any parents workshops offered by the school.
- Make sure that internet access is supervised.
- Create a daily routine which insists on homework and study time.
