Supporting your child's learning

  • Students in upper school need your support as much as when they were younger. Take an interest in their work and talk to them about what they are learning.
  • Sign their planner or homework diary and liase with the school if you think there may be a problem about homework.
  • Create an environment for learning at home where students can work without distraction a desk, light and calm background are essential.
  • Encourage your child to make time for reading it is one of the most important ingredients in a childs overall success. Ask the school for recommendations of books, look on the schools website or just take your child into a local bookshop and do some browsing.
  • Avoid placing a television in the bedroom. We believe the bedroom should be an escape from distractions.
  • Attend any parents workshops offered by the school.
  • Make sure that internet access is supervised.
  • Create a daily routine which insists on homework and study time.
